For more than a century, the James Otis School has been an important part of the East Boston community. We believe that a strong school is built through strong relationships with our students, families, staff, and community partners. By working together, we create an environment where every child feels known, supported, and inspired to succeed.

Our commitment to families extends beyond the classroom. We work closely with parents and caregivers and partner with numerous community organizations to provide students and families with meaningful opportunities, resources, and support. This commitment to partnership was recognized in 2014, when the James Otis School was named Boston’s first “Family Friendly” school.

At the James Otis School, we believe the small things matter. From welcoming students and families by name each morning to creating opportunities for collaboration and connection throughout the school day, we strive to make our school a place where everyone feels that they belong.
